Underpinning skills
The skills that have been important to the success of my career have been writing, editing and project management. The featured case studies illustrate how the combination of these skills has been integral to me achieving my goals.
Editing the work of others has improved the quality of my own writing.
The understanding of project lifecycles has benefitted my report writing and editing, as I can see what needs to be included and can spot any gaps.
My writing and editing have improved my project management as I am able to provide instructions and messages, as well as share results.
European research projects
As project manager I oversaw the day-to-day activities of three European Commission funded partnership projects:
- Renewal, Innovation and Change: Heritage and European Society (RICHES)
- Europeana Space
- RE-designing Access to Cultural Heritage (REACH).
I provided guidance and support to partners, monitored activity and managed the project budgets and reporting.
I edited (developmental and copyedited) the deliverables/reports written by partners to optimise their messages and wrote further content to share project results.
Coventry UK City of Culture 2021
As a member of the independent monitoring and evaluation team for Coventry UK City of Culture 2021, I provided developmental and copyediting support for research teams writing focus study reports. This support helped them to structure and clarify their findings.
I built, populated and managed the Evaluating Coventry UK City of Culture 2021 website to disseminate findings. It has 76 pages that tell the story of the year and provide resources and findings for stakeholders.
Through the AHRC funded knowledge exchange project, we developed events including the Walking Through Coventry Data digital exhibition and the Coventry Cultural Challenge hackathon to share data gained during Coventry’s year as City of Culture.

E-learning content creation
I managed a project to develop high-quality post-16 teacher training e-learning materials. This involved working closely with authors, reviewers and a developer to deliver content on time.
The project created almost 40 hours of blended e-learning material (117 lessons) that aligned to national standards.
The e-lessons were designed to provide professional knowledge and understanding for units of teacher training qualifications:
- Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS)
- Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (CTLLS)
- Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (DTLLS)
- Diploma in Teaching English (Literacy) in the Lifelong Learning Sector.
The case studies provide an insight into the successful projects that I have delivered and the skills and attributes that I could bring to your work.
